Mother’s Days

Every year I have a moment of panic upon realising I totally let Mother’s Day sleep by…

And then I remember that Mother’s Day in the US falls two weeks before France’s (in such matters, I go with most recent country of residence).

And I’m completely screwed because Mother’s Day (or Mothering Sunday as we prefer to call it) is in March.
Then again, my parents live in France, so maybe I should just follow your example…

Dave says:

Yea… you probably should. It’s not like Mothering day means much more than an income bump for the flower and chocolate industry…

BTW, am I correct in remembering you were from Stoke (on Trent) originally? I just read smth about your charming little town in the Guardian. Seems your city folks are all turning brown shirts these days… 8-|

erm, think i am going to do the typical North American or Japanese thing…

Well, technically i am from Stoke On Trent. Yes, I was born there, and it is forever etched in my passport.
However, my mum & dad are both proud southerners. Dad’s from Bromley & Mum’s from Mitcham (which isn’t much of a step up from Stoke, but hey….)
So, you see, I am not from Stoke On Trent. I’m actually from London ;)

(Never EVER thought i would hear myself say those words…)

Not surprised about Stoke though. There’s always been race problems there. Friendships were pretty much along race lines. Also, it’s very close knit there – everybody’s family lived within walking distance. I was a weirdo in school because my parents spoke ‘different’…
