[...] Yesterday (or the day before, I really cannot remember) I read a post on Dr Dave’s blog that was about his broken ‘e’ key on his keyboard. The entire post excluded this vowel, and after reading it through a couple of times, I decided I was quite impressed with this feat. I ain’t no writer, but I imagine purposely not using the most widely used letter in the English language to be quite a hard thing to do. So I was about to post a quick aside article about it when I read another post on the blog that highlighted Dr Dave’s frustration at “non-spam-but-moronic comments” (see the post on February 25th) and the Doctor pointed out various rules of commenting on his site. After reading this, I decided my humble bit of “Look what I have just found” wasn’t really worthy. Instead I decided to play Monopoly on my mobile phone. (Memo to self: I need to get out more.) [...]

Sorry to hear about your keyboard malfunctioning. Twice in my life, I had been desperate enough to use a broken keyboard, and had to basically copy/paste the missing letters into the documents I needed to churn out the door.

Hope you fix your keys before you have to do that.

Indeed, it was the 'e' key (working much better, if not perfectly, today)... I truly need to change this whole keyboard... having to snap the key back every two seconds is driving me crazy...

Tuitui: actually, the best I remember from some cryptography book I once read (and the Wikipedia entry linked in the post above): 'e' is the letter most used both in English and French by a wide margin. Something like 11% frequency vs. 8 to 7% for other vowels.

Anyway my 'o' key might be one of the only key currently working flawlessly (can't say the same of 'e' and 'a' unfortunately).

I believe that in english, the most used letter is 'o', but any letter is worth a try.
