Some of us at http://www.prank.org are trying to develop an anti-spam/anti-idiot-post engine. I am a fan of Spam Karma 2, and I love its simple interface and high degree of accuracy.

I ask your permission to use some of the Spam Karma 2 source in the development of a GPL’d MOD for phpBB that will, hopefully, become part of phpBB itself.

The goal of this project is to improve every forum that runs phpBB by reducing the amount of spam that plagues many forums in the form of rampant spam-bot Guests or rage-inducing porn-spammers.

I understand that you do not want anyone making money off of your project. You can be assured that if you give us permission to use parts of your engine, nobody will be able to make a profit off of it because the code will have been thoroughly mangled beyond recognition (phpBB lacks a plugin-interface of any kind). Anyone capable of installing phpBB is capable of installing easyMOD, which makes installing further MODs quite simple.

Hopefully, our mod will help make the internet a better place for all (except the spammers).
